A graphical user interface (GUI) is a type of user interface through which users interact with electronic devices via visual indicator representations.
1. TITLE BAR
• A title bar is a small strip that extends across the top of a window. It displays the title of the window and typically includes the close, minimize, and maximize buttons.
2. MENU BAR
• The menu bar contains common commands organized into logical categories.
• Use the menu bar when learning the product, or browsing for a command.
3. TOOL BAR
a. STANDARD TOOL BAR
The Standard toolbar is located just below the menu bar. It contains buttons representing commands such as New, Open, Save, and Print as well as zoom and pan option
b. OBJECT PROPERTIES TOOLBAR
Object properties control the appearance and behavior of objects, and are used to organize a drawing. Contains “layer” information as well as object colors and line style options
c. DRAW TOOLBAR
Basic drawing commands, as well as frequently used advanced drawing commands, are located on the Drawing toolbar.
d. MODIFY TOOLBAR
AutoCAD drawings are rarely completed simply by drawing lines, circles etc. Modify tools are used to modify existing lines and objects. Contains all common editing commands such as erase, copy and so on.
4. UCS
The User Coordinate System (UCS) establishes the location and orientation of a movable Cartesian coordinate system. The UCS is an essential tool for many precision operations. The UCS defines the horizontal and vertical directions used for features like Ortho mode, polar tracking, and object snap tracking.
5. LAYOUT TAB
A layout is a 2D working environment for creating drawing sheets. A layout is a page that allows you to set up a plot or printout of our drawing.
6. COMMAND ENTRY
Commands are the instructions that tell the program what to do.
There are many ways to initiate a command:
• Make a selection on a ribbon, toolbar, or menu.
• Enter a command in the command window.
7. STATUS BAR
The status bar displays the cursor location, drawing tools, and tools that affect our drawing environment. The status bar provides quick access to some of the most commonly used drawing tools. We can toggle settings such as grid, snap, polar tracking, and object snap.
8. TASK BAR
Controls whether multiple open drawings are displayed separately or grouped on the Windows taskbar.
